What is clinching?

Clinching forms a Clinchlok joint: the upper tooling squeezes two plies of sheet metal between a punch and die, locking them together in one fast, consistent joint. There are no rivets, bolts or other fasteners to buy, stock or install — and no heat, no adhesives and no fumes. Because there is no heat, nothing burns paint or galvanized finishes, so there is little or no damage to coated surfaces. Clinching joins dissimilar materials and different thicknesses, with simple adjustments and very little maintenance. It is the least expensive way to fasten sheet metal.
